Did You Know: Microsoft Customers Will Soon Have More Ways to Buy Azure

Over the past few years, Microsoft has made a continuous effort to improve and streamline customer experience. In 2017, they began their “modern commerce transition”. Their vision was to modernize the customer and partner purchasing experience. Then, in 2018, they introduced programmatic changes to licensing in order to offer discounts across volume licensing related specifically to offer pricing. Now, in 2019, Microsoft is introducing a new way for customers to buy and manage Azure services, featuring a new, simplified customer agreement.


Who will have access to the new agreement?

Beginning in March, Microsoft customers will have a new way of buying and managing their Azure Services as Microsoft rolls out their new Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA). Currently, customers can buy Azure services in two ways: through a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) agreement or directly through Microsoft with an Enterprise Agreement. The new MCA will only be available for customers who are not buying Azure through a partner. The new MCA will be supported solely by the Microsoft Inside Sales Team. Customers who do not wish to buy directly can still purchase Azure through a CSP agreement.


What are the benefits of the new MCA?

Direct Microsoft customers will be able to access a single offer catalog as well as a completely digital, simplified 11-page contract. This change will include the entire Azure suite of products, which includes artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud compute, and analytics offerings, among others. This new model will also allow customers to have consistency with purchasing. Along with the simplicity and agility of the new agreement, customers will benefit from an array of changes including policy management at the department or organizational level, as well as improved tools and systems that support all transactions throughout the agreement.
